downtomars | Right now I am dabbling – doing temporary jobs, part time this and freelance that but I was wondering what I should focus on career-wise. I have several degrees and certifications (health sciences, psychology & sociology, health studies, HR management, with certifications in early childhood education and athletic coaching) and before I choose a third graduate degree (PhD in psychology or JD - law, specializing in mediation) I was wondering if I should actually go for it. I was even thinking of possibly getting certified in New Age-y things…What direction should I take? Any type of reading or glance-over would help...Thank you in advance! Here are the charts (I included my SR for this year and the asteroid Talent in my natal, if you are into that sort of thing!):

Thank you Ami Anne - I was thinking that maybe the bouncing around and dabbling in this and that is what I am supposed to be doing because of the unpredictability of Uranus, but it is not good to always be on edge, wondering what I'll do next. Even if something was offbeat but steady, I'd feel better about it. Which is why I thought maybe I should get a few certifications in some New Age practices like maybe hypnotherapy, color therapy, acupuncture, something like that to supplement the psychology... I don't know, I am always seeking... |
downtomars | I just found out the Iris (7) is conjunct my MC as well, if that helps... |
starcrossedleo | What I find interesting is the things you describe are in your chart. Right now Saturn is transiting Libra and will hit your 9th house cusp at 24 degrees Libra. 9th house rules higher education. Libra governs law, mediation, counseling, psychology. You described possibly a JD. When Saturn is in a house prepare to do hard work in that area in order to reap the rewards. When Saturn enters your tenth house I would expect a turning point in your career. Scorpio in your tenth house means that whatever you do you will bring an intensity to that career and will make your mark in the world. Nothing is fated in your chart as you have free will but the life cycle you are entering with the saturn transit entering your ninth seems to coincide with the additional higher education you described. |

It is crazy how that happens! I thought about that myself, how convenient is it that I’d like to work in education, law or psychology the most out of everything? Mostly private practice too, so I can be my own boss (Uranus MC). The thought of law school scares me so though. Even though the school I have in mind is not very competitive (it is a fourth tier school) it is still LAW SCHOOL, there is a lot of pressure. Psychology would be easier for me because I have degrees in it already and I enjoy it. But I don’t know if I want to study it so intensely. Education would be easier to get into too but, I don’t know. quote: Go for what you actually enjoy.
But I enjoy it all Lexx! I need to narrow it down…

downtomars | Any other takers out there? |
anongrl10 | I don't think astrology can help you "narrow it down" any further than that. The rest is up to trying a few things and experiment. Ask your mentors what fields are out there and what they think you'd be good at. If you like all these things equally, pick one. It won't make a difference. Find ways to relate them together. An advice on getting a PhD in any field: it requires a degree of specialization, dedication and time/effort investment, which means you must be sure you really want it badly. No point to go into a PhD in any field if you are not sure you really want it. People quit after a couple of yrs on the PhD track. It's a marathon (you can tell I know what I'm talking about ). If I were you, I would aim for shorter spans of time and effort investment, like a masters. Or a practical certification. The latter will give you what you need in order to start your own business without draining you with the theory overhead of a PhD. There are a lot of options out there. The point is: what do YOU want. It boils down to that. Make a choice. Follow it until no longer works; then repeat until you find the one thing you want to stick with.Good luck! |

Thank you Anon! I have one masters (psychology with health studies emphasis) and I will have another in HR management next May! The are from state/city colleges so I wont be in a great deal of debt. I was thinking about taking a program that will lead to becoming a certified counselor after so many hours of practice. That might be the direction I am headed in...although having teaching certification in NY is also tempting (I have certification in NJ)... You are right about astrology only taking me so far. Who knows though, I am just confused... |
anongrl10 | I like teaching for you. Neptune in Sag and Jup in 7th house Leo along with your Sun. Mars in your 5th and ruler of your 10th. Do you enjoy being around kids? Teaching kids sounds like a good expression of the ruler of your 10th (Scorpio) and a natural fit to your Leo 7th house (leader) and your 5th house Mars. |
downtomars | Anon - I have taught and I really enjoyed it. I love kids and my certification in NJ is for teaching preschool through 3rd grade - my favorite group to teach. I am seriously considering going back to school for an education degree so I can get easily certified in any state... |
anongrl10 | That's great to hear, downtomars! (True to your moniker too!) I wish you the best! quote: Originally posted by downtomars: Anon -I have taught and I really enjoyed it.
